National Instruments NI-9211 Temperature Input Module
The NI-9211 (Part Number: 779001-01) Temperature Input Module belongs to the C Series by National Instruments. The NI 9211 module has 4 thermocouple channels at 14 S/s with 24-bit resolution, sending information to a primary PC by means of USB, Ethernet, or 802.11 Wi-Fi. The equipment for a solitary NI CompactDAQ bundle contains a USB, Ethernet, or 802.11 Wi-Fi chassis, and one of the C Series modules. This small, compact module comes equipped with features such as anti-aliasing filters, cold-junction compensation for highly precise thermocouple measurements, open-thermocouple detection, and many other useful features.
The NI-9211 Module, for use with NI CompactDAQ and CompactRIO frame, incorporates a 24-bit delta-sigma simple advanced converter. The NI 9211 4-channel module has an autozero function and screw terminal connectors. This Temperature Input Module’s channels share a common ground isolated from other modules in the system. Every channel passes through a filter, then a 24-bit ADC samples the channel. The NI-9211 contains a dual channel-to-earth ground isolation barrier for safety, noise immunity, and high common-mode voltage range. The NI device is run using the NI-DAQmx driver which is compatible with software packages like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and .NET.
The NI 9211 National Instruments offers a channel-to-COM safety voltage of +/- 1.5 V, a common-mode rejection ratio between 0 to 60MHz with a channel-to-common of 95 dB and a common-to-earth ground of 170 db, 1 internal auto-zero channel, 1 internal cold-junction compensation channel, scanned sampling mode, and a voltage measurement range of ±80 mV. The internal auto-zero channel can be subtracted from every thermocouple reading to make up for offset mistakes. The autozero channel can be utilized if the ambient temperature is lower than 15 degrees Celsius or higher than 35 degrees Celsius. The device has a power requirement of 170 mW maximum when active, and 4 mW maximum when in sleep mode.
The NI-9211 weighs 5.3 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, and a random and sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 Hz to 500 Hz.
The NI-9211 is available to be calibrated. While the recommended calibration period for individual parts varies, most parts should be calibrated either annually or every two years to ensure accuracy. If you need the NI-9211 calibrated, Apex Waves provides options. We offer high-quality NIST accredited calibrations through a 3rd party, with an average turnaround time of 1 to 2 weeks. When you order the NI-9211 with us, you can request basic (unaccredited) in-house calibration that will calibrate the part to the manufacturer specifications prior to being shipped. Call or email us today for more information about calibrating the NI-9211!
