The PXIe-6378 (Part Number: 781476-01) from National Instruments is a Multifunction I/O Module from the X Series. There is no minimum for the sample rate of the I/O module, and it reaches a maximum rate of 3.571 MS/s for a single channel.
The 4 general-purpose counter/timers that are included with the NI PXIe-6378 I/O Module feature 32 bits of resolution each. These counters are capable of measuring two edge separation, pulse width, pulse, edge counting, period, and semi-period. Additionally, each counter is equipped with it’s own scatter-gather DMA controller in order to transfer data. With a FIFO size of 127 samples per counter, the NI PXIe-6378 offers plenty of space for a range of test and measurement applications.
The bus interface of the NI PXIe-6378 has a x1 PXIe peripheral module form factor, and it is compatible with x1 and x4 PXIe or PXIe Hybrid slots. The 8 DMA channels of the module are useful for analog and digital input and output, as well as applications for each of the counter/timers. The power required by the NI PXIe-6378 differs depending on the voltage rail used. The I/O module requires 8.2 W of power for a rail of +3.3 V, and it requires 21.8 W for a rail of +12 V.
Physically, the dimensions of the printed circuit board of the NI PXIe-6378 measures the same as a standard 3U PXI module. Featuring 2 68-pin VHDCI connectors, the I/O module weighs 241 g (8.5 oz) and should be calibrated every 2 years in order to maintain accuracy and reliability.
