National Instruments NI-9265 C Series Current Output Module
The National Instruments NI-9265 (Part Numbers: 783733-01, 779334-01, 779334-02) is a 4-Channel, 16-Bit, 0 mA to 20 mA range Current Output Module. This model offers 100 kS/s per channel, simultaneous analog output on all four channels and is compatible with any CompactRIO or CompactDAQ chassis. The NI-9265 is a suitable choice for interfacing and modulating or controlling industrial grade, current-driven actuators at high-rates. This device comes with integrated open-loop detection, which generates a software interrupt whenever an open loop is detected. Moreover, to ensure safety and avoid actuators activity at system power-on, the NI-9265 restricts outputs.
For better noise immunity performance, the NI 9265 module includes a channel-to-earth ground barrier as well. Each channel has a 16-bit, String type Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) that generates a current signal. This Current Output Module is designed to offer up to 600 Ω load, maximum. With this module, users can utilize a 9 VDC to 36 VDC external power supply. The National Instruments NI-9265 features protection against overvoltage and short-circuit on its channels. In its default configuration, the overvoltage protection setting is ±40 V.
While operating with four channels, this Current Output Module can operate with 12 μs update rate in an R Series Expansion Chassis and 9.5 μs when used in any other chassis. The NI-9265 is available in three variations, based on the type of connection. It is available with non-conformal coated Screw Terminals (Part Number: 779334-01), Spring Terminals (Part Number: 783733-01), and Conformal Coated Screw Terminals (Part Number: 783733-01). The conformal coated version is an ideal solution for applications in a moisture rich environment.
The NI-9265 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or ANSI C.
The NI device weighs 4.8 oz. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C, a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, an operating and storage humidity range of 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH, and a random and sinusoidal operating vibration of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
