National Instruments NI-9266 C Series Current Output Module

The National Instruments NI-9266 (Part Numbers: 785046-01, 785047-01, 785047-02, and 141120A-01L) is an 8-Channel Current Output Module. This model features 0 to 20 mA output range, 16-bit resolution, up to 24 kS/s per channel simultaneous update range, and an open-loop detection capability. The NI-9266 is widely used with industrial, current-driven type actuators. This module comes with various safety features, such as overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection, and a safe power-on output state.

The National Instruments NI 9266 module utilizes a dynamic power supply control technique. This technique involves a DC-DC converter circuit, which allows cutbacks in power utilization from standard designs.  The internal circuitry of this module senses voltages at the output terminals and modulates the internal DC-DC converter for limiting power dissipation, while ensuring the required compliance voltage for the load attached and output current.

Each channel comes with a dedicated DC-DC converter, enabling it to adjust to a particular use case dynamically. Here, it is important to be noted that the DC-DC converter based modules come with lesser slew rate; thus, they operate slower than typical, linear output modules and subsequently users will achieve slower settling times. The National Instruments NI-9266 Current Output Module offers channel-oriented indicators for the detection of open current loop condition or irregular loops.  

This model is available in three variations. The first version comes with non-coated screw terminal connectivity (Part Number: 785046-01). The next version has coated screw terminal connectivity (Part Number: 785047-01). Finally, D-Sub connectivity is available (Part Number: 785047-02). On full load with all eight channels in service, the NI-9266 can operate at 51.5 μs update time when used with any R Series Chassis.
