National Instruments PCI-CAN CAN interface Device

The PCI-CAN (Part number: 777357-01) is a high-speed CAN Interface Device designed by National Instruments. This model is a controller area network interface device used to develop CAN applications. The PCI–CAN Interface Device is linked to a PC through a 9-pin SUB-D connector or a 5-pin Combicon-style pluggable DeviceNet screw terminal (used for high-speed CAN only). This device offers different advanced filtering modes. These filtering modes are listen-only modes and support self-reception. The built-in software of the device is the NI-CAN driver software. The NI-CAN software features a high-level frame API. This feature makes the PCI–CAN ideal for rapid application development. The PCI-CAN is specifically designed for CAN-based in-vehicle (automotive) networks.  This network connects the various components inside a vehicle. The PCI–CAN Interface Device is compatible with physical as well as electrical demands for the in-vehicle networks.

The PCI-CAN CAN Interface Device is a single port device. The PCI–CAN device incorporates a TJA1041 transceiver with an ISO 11898 interface type. This device can transmit data at a maximum speed of 1000 kb/sec. An optical isolation up to 500 volts is also provided in the PCI-CAN Interface Device. The PCI-CAN device is compatible with a desktop, network, or industrial PC. The CAN Interface Device also features support for LabVIEW software, C or C++, as well as Windows 2000/NT/XP/Me/98 and the NI-CAN driver software. The device can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. It has a power requirement of 800 mA at +5 VDC.

The PCI-CAN device is suitable for a wide range of CAN applications. The device is used in industry and research applications. This device is mainly used in factory automation applications. The PCI–CAN is ideal for the automotive industry for testing and diagnostics, but it can also be used in research for prototype designing.

The NI device measures 4.2 x 6.9 in. in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 55 °C and –20 to 70 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% to 90% and 5% to 90% respectively.
