National Instruments PCIe-6320 Multifunction I/O Device

The PCIe-6320 (Part Number: 781043-01) is an efficient Multifunction I/O Device designed by National Instruments. This device features analog and digital channels with timers/counters in a single device. It has 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog input channels with a 16-bit resolution and a maximum sample rate of 250 kS/s, 16 digital input and 8 digital output lines. The device has 8 DMA channels. The PCIe-6320 is compatible with computer-based systems and supports the PCI Express bus. The PCIe-6320 comes with onboard NI-STC3 technology. NI-STC3 offers advanced timing and synchronization functions.

The devices’ input channels have the voltage range from +0.2 Volts to +10 Volts. The PCIe-6320 implements overvoltage protection for a voltage value up to +25 volts. During overvoltage, the current on each channel is +20 mA. The National Instruments PCIe-6320 includes a FIFO buffer. The FIFO buffer of the device has the memory size of 4,095 samples. The NI PCIe-6320 X Series device with 4 counter/timer I/O channels with a 32-bit resolution and a frequency of 100 MHz. Each counter has a FIFO buffer with a memory of 127 samples. It has 1 frequency generator with base clocks of 20 MHz, 10 MHz, and 100 kHz with an accuracy of 50 ppm. Its output can be transmitted on any PFI or RTSI channel. The device is equipped with 1 68-pin VHDCI I/O connector.

Engineers can design customized control systems using the NI-DAQmx in the PCIe-6320. The device weighs 3.6 oz., and measures 3.9 x 6.6 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, and should be calibrated at least once every 2 years. The NI device has an operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, and a storage temperature range of -40 to 70 ºC.
