National Instruments AT-MXI Interface Board

The AT-MXI (Part Number: 180775-01) is an Interface Board manufactured by National Instruments. The AT-MXI can be installed by LabVIEW and LabWindows on different versions of operating systems like Windows NT/DOS. The AT-MXI can also be utilized with a software package of NI VXI. This NI VXI is an interface bus that is used for controlling, configuring, programming, and troubleshooting the VXI systems. The VXI bus also has low-level access to the external MXI-bus modules. The NI VXI supports SCO-UNIX, ISC-UNIX, and Windows.

The NI AT-MXI is designed as an interface board that connects the MXI-bus directly to personal computers. This Interface Board can perform as a translator for the MXI-bus to the AT-bus. The address mapping is used to translate bus cycles from the AT-bus to the MXI-bus. The NI AT-MXI can handle both types of data transfers of 16-bits and 8-bits, while operating as a slave or a master. The data transfer of 32-bit is not compatible with the AT-MXI due to less space in the data bus since the AT-MXI is 16-bit wide. The device is equipped with a single fully implemented MXIbus connector, and a single AT (ISA) slot. It has a power requirement of +5 VDC at 3.3 A typical and 4.4 A maximum.

This Interface Board is capable of using work as an MXI-bus slave, as well as an MXI-bus master. When the AT-MXI functions as an MXI-bus master, the AT-MXI transforms the memory cycles of the PC AT generated from the CPU into MXI-bus cycles for the MXI-bus slave module. When the AT-MXI is functioned as an MXI-bus slave, the AT-MXI transforms MXI-bus cycles generated from an MXI-bus master into the AT memory. This board can also have I/O cycles when operating as a slave and by this other MXI-bus module can avail resources freely within AT computers. The gadget has a required I/O space of 32 B, and a required memory space of 64 KB.

The NI device measures 13.36 x 4.8 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0° to 70° C, and a storage temperature range of -55° to 150° C.
