National Instruments part number 779707-01 is an identifying part number for the NI-9852, a CAN Interface Module. The NI 779707-01 is a 2-Port, Low-Speed/Fault Tolerant C Series CAN Interface Module designed for developing FPGA-based applications using the NI-RIO driver on CompactRIO. It is particularly suitable for low-level FPGA-based control and triggering applications programmed with the LabVIEW FPGA Module. The NI-9852 excels in byte-level manipulation of CAN frames using the LabVIEW FPGA Module and is exclusively compatible with CompactRIO systems. 

This module supports a supply voltage range of +8 to +36 VDC for both CAN0 and CAN1 channels. It features RRTH and RRTL resistances of 1.11 kΩ ± 0.5% or 4.99 kΩ ± 0.5%. According to Bellcore Issue 6, Method 1, Case 3, Limited Part Stress Method, this device boasts an impressive Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 1,052,836 hours at 25 °C. This Interface Module comes with specific power consumption characteristics when operating from the chassis. In active mode, it consumes a maximum of 400 mW while transmitting and receiving. When in sleep mode, the power consumption drops significantly to a maximum of 25 µW. The NI-9852 module has defined maximum voltage and isolation specifications. 

The port-to-COM voltage ranges from -27 V DC to 40 V DC, classified under Measurement Category I. For isolation, the port-to-port and port-to-earth ground isolation are rated for continuous operation up to 60 V DC at altitudes up to 5,000 meters, also under Measurement Category I. Both port-to-port and port-to-earth ground isolation withstand a 500 V RMS voltage, verified by a 5-second dielectric withstand test.
