National Instruments sbRIO-9218 C Series Analog Input Module

National Instruments created the NI sbRIO-9218 (Part Number: 783362-02), a universal analog input module, for multi-function testing in industrial automation applications. It provides accurate measuring capabilities for a range of sensors, such as powered sensors, thermocouples, load cells, strain sensors, and resistance temperature detectors (RTDs). This module guarantees precise data acquisition with its high-resolution 24-bit Delta-Sigma ADC and simultaneous sampling mode, which are equipped with two analog input channels.

Equipped with integrated excitation current and voltage features, users can measure current in quarter-bridge, half-bridge, and full-bridge configurations. It is possible to individually set every channel to carry out various kinds of measurements. In accordance with IEEE 1451.4, the module also supports TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) Class 1, which makes sensor identification and calibration easier.

The sbRIO-9218 provides safe and dependable operation in challenging industrial environments because of its 60 VDC analog input isolation. It has withstand capacities of up to 1,000 V RMS and safety voltages up to 60 VDC for channel-to-channel and channel-to-Vsup inputs. For even greater operational safety, it also provides transient overvoltage prevention.
This module can function in a wide temperature range of -40°C to 70°C, making it appropriate for usage in harsh environmental settings. It complies with industry laws by meeting the requirements of many EMC standards for electrical equipment.

In active mode, the sbRIO-9218 consumes a maximum of 900 mW from the chassis and 2 W from the Vsup input, indicating its low power consumption. It's economical and energy-efficient since, when in sleep mode, it just draws 500 μW from the chassis and 400 mW from the Vsup input.

The module is small and simple to install, with its 49.0 g (1.73 oz) weight and DSUB connections. It can function at elevations of up to 5,000 meters and satisfies the standards of Pollution Degree 2.
