National Instruments sbRIO-9853 C Series CAN Interface Module

The sbRIO-9853 is a high-speed C Series Controller Area Network (CAN) Interface Module. The manufacturer of the NI sbRIO-9853 module is National Instruments. This module is available with the part number 780923-01. The sbRIO-9853 CAN Interface Module is designed to develop applications based on an FPGA for CompactRIO systems, using the NI-RIO driver. The NI sbRIO-9853 module is the most appropriate choice in specific applications that are programmed through NI LABVIEW FPGA modules. These applications not only involve low-level triggering and control features, but also byte-level operation and manipulation of CAN frames.

The National Instruments sbRIO-9853 CAN Interface Module is a non-enclosed module designed for OEM applications. The sbRIO-9853 module features 2 fully isolated high-speed CAN ports. Each port is CAN 2.0B compatible and equipped with the NXP SJA1000 CAN controller, which can support 11-bit and 29-bit identifiers. Additionally, each CAN port features an NXP TJA1041 High-Speed CAN transceiver with up to 1 Mbps baud rate capability. For the connection with CAN buses, the NI sbRIO-9853 module is provided with two 9-pin D-SUB male connectors. The sbRIO-9853 C Series CAN Interface Module has a capacity of connectivity with minimum 30 nodes if all nodes comply with the standard requirements of ISO 11898.

The NI sbRIO-9853 CAN Interface Module has fine performance in rapid-control prototyping, automation control, and bus monitoring applications. The sbRIO-9853 module is designed with built-in safety features, which can support -27 to +40 VDC between port and COM. For isolation overvoltage, the NI sbRIO-9853 can withstand 500Vrms for both port-port and port-earth ground. While in active operation mode, the sbRIO-9853 requires 625 mW power while transmitting and 400 mW while receiving.
