Prior to utilizing these mounting procedures, the user should write down the serial number from the back of the model. It is important to keep in mind that if the user is utilizing UL Recognized I/O modules with the Compact FieldPoint system, then they must install the complete system in an appropriately rated, UL Listed NEMA or IP enclosure. To guarantee the most cooling efficiency, the user should mount the Compact FieldPoint system so that the I/O module vents are at the top and bottom. The device has communication rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and auto-negotiated rate.

The 4-slot cFP-1804 Backplane has the capability to link Compact FieldPoint I/O modules to a high-speed Ethernet network or an RS-232 serial port (can be linked using a 9-pin D-SUB male-to-female straight-to cable).
