National Instruments cFP-QUAD-510 Counter Module for Compact FieldPoint

The NI cFP-QUAD-510 (Part Number: 777318-510) is designed for use with the cFP-BP-x. The cFP-QUAD-510 mounts on the Compact FieldPoint Backplane and brings functioning power to the Counter Module. If the user is utilizing this module in a temperature range between 60 to 70 °C, then they should link an external power supply straight to the voltage input of the encoder. The user should also ensure that they do not utilize the +5 V output terminal. It is possible to install a 2 A maximum, swift-acting fuse between the external power supply and the V terminal.

The NI cFP-QUAD-510 Counter Module accepts two types of encoder signal inputs: single-ended (TTL) and differential line driver. The user should link a single terminal for every input signal. The cFP-QUAD-510 module supports differential inputs for Phase A, Phase B, and Index signals. The user can accommodate encoders with a variety of phase relationships by changing the signals or linking them to the inverting inputs as certain applications may dictate. If the index polarity is reversed, then the user can attempt reversing the +Index and -Index signals on differential encoders. The user can utilize the -Index input on single-ended encoders as well.

This Quadrature Encoder Input Module for Compact FieldPoint is ideal for measuring position and velocity in a motion control application. The cFP-QUAD-510 can link to differential and single-ended quadrature encoders with inputs from 5 to 30 VDC. The NI cFP-QUAD-510 module can be used with PWM-520 modules, RLY modules, PG-522 modules, or an external serial motor controller in motion control applications.
