The cDAQ-9185 (Part Numbers: 785064-01, 786473-01, 787929-01) is a CompactDAQ chassis. With this model, the user can install a thermocouple module alongside an accelerometer measurement module and gain both at various rates. The NI cDAQ-9185 chassis has multiple analog input timing engines, which allows the user to gather the majority of their analog input modules in up to three groups of modules. These sets, known as tasks, would all be able to keep running at various rates if each has its own specific timing engine in the chassis backplane.
To exploit the 1,000 Mbit/s of bandwidth on a Gigabit Ethernet interface, this NI CompactDAQ chassis uses TCP/IP network communication. With this innovation, C Series modules such as the NI-9223 can continuously acquire up to 1 MS/s of simultaneous 16-bit data on all four channels. Besides, various NI CompactDAQ chassis can have similar Gigabit Ethernet networked for distributed, high-channel-count systems. The device has a timing accuracy of 50 ppm of the sample rate.
Utilizing a modern software architecture, the NI-DAQmx driver software allows for buffered operations. This operation type is when data first moves from a host buffer to an onboard FIFO before being written to modules for analog output. For digital input, the data moves from the onboard FIFO to a PC buffer. This chassis includes a user-programmable watchdog feature that allows the application to monitor the health of the system, resetting in the event of any failures, crashes, or losses of network communication. With this, the user can focus on the measurement application and not the system. The device can be programmed using LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI, among others.
The NI device weighs 23.3 oz and measures 7.01 x 3.47 x 2.52 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C; a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C; non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% to 90% RH and 5% to 95% RH, respectively; and random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g, respectively—all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz. Question: Why are there two different part numbers for the NI cDAQ-9185?
Answer: Part number 785064-01 is not conformal coated, while part number 786473-01 is conformal coated.
Question: When I run the NI cDAQ-9185 in Test Panels in MAX, I get an Error 209836 - "the devices in your task cannot be synchronized." What should I do?
Answer: This may be because there are no available synchronization mechanisms between the devices. Make sure that all of your drivers are updated.
Question: Is the NI cDAQ-9185 CompactDAQ Chassis supported in Linux?
Answer: No, this Chassis is not supported in Linux.
Question: How many ethernet ports are available on the cDAQ-9185?
Answer: The cDAQ chassis is equipped with 2 ethernet ports.
Question: Why can’t I see the NI cDAQ-9185 when it’s connected via the network? I can see it when it’s connected through MAX but not when connected through the network.
Answer: Your cDAQ-9185 may not be able to be seen because it is TSN (Time Sensitive Network) enabled. TSN uses the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) to create a loopless network, which is not compatible with some network settings. If it is not possible to configure your network differently, you could consider a non-TSN cDAQ chassis, such as the cDAQ-9184 or cDAQ-9188.
Question: Why can't I see the CompactDAQ Chassis in LabVIEW?
Answer: The cDAQ-9185 does not have its own controller, so it can not be added to a LabVIEW project- instead, you will be able to access it with DAQmx API.
