The NI 780918-01 includes a Scan Interface mode that allows users to utilize C Series modules directly from LabVIEW Real-Time. When used in this mode, modules appear under the chassis in the Project Explorer window, and I/O channels show up as I/O variables under the modules. Users can easily drag and drop these I/O variables into LabVIEW Real-Time VIs. 

In Scan Interface mode, there is no need for LabVIEW FPGA development or programming communication between FPGA and Host VIs. Additionally, users do not need to wait for VIs to be compiled to the FPGA before deploying and running them. LabVIEW automatically programs the FPGA on the CompactRIO model to work with the variables in Scan Interface mode. In LabVIEW FPGA Interface mode, users can employ LabVIEW FPGA programming to add more flexibility, customization, and deterministic timing to their applications. 

To use the CompactRIO system in this mode, users need the LabVIEW FPGA Module installed on the host PC or access to a compiled bit-file that can be downloaded to the FPGA. In both cases, users can use the Open FPGA VI Reference function in a host VI to access the FPGA VI or bit-file.  

The 780918-01has a maximum power consumption of 3,300 mW. It contains 28,800 flip-flops and 28,000 6-input LUTs, providing significant logic resources. The system includes 48 DSP48 slices with 25 x 18 multipliers, enhancing its digital signal processing capabilities.
