National Instruments' 781313-01, also referred to as the cRIO-9025, is a powerful and adaptable CompactRIO controller intended for sophisticated control and monitoring uses. With a Freescale MPC8377 CPU operating at 800 MHz, this embedded real-time controller provides dependable performance for taxing industrial operations. It has enough memory for sophisticated programs with 512 MB of DRAM and 4 GB of nonvolatile storage.

The 781313-01's versatility in adapting to different conditions is a result of its numerous connectivity options. Both of its Ethernet ports—which have auto-negotiated transmission rates of 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps—support 10BaseT and 100BaseTX Ethernet. A maximum cabling distance of 100 meters per segment is ensured, allowing for smooth incorporation into current network infrastructures. Furthermore, to enable quick data transfer and peripheral connectivity, the controller has a USB connector that can handle up to 500 mA of current and 480 Mb/s of data transfer rate.

Using an RS-232 DTE serial port that supports baud rates ranging from 600 bps to 230,400 bps, the 781313-01 is capable of serial communication. With settings for 5, 6, 7, or 8 data bits and 1, 1.5, or 2 stop bits, it supports a variety of data combinations. Along with several flow control options like RTS/CTS, XON/XOFF, DTR/DSR, or none, the serial port also supports a number of parity modes, including odd, even, mark, space, and none.

This fanless controller provides dependability without the need for active cooling because it is designed to survive tough industrial conditions. It does not come with inbuilt C Series I/O module slots; therefore, in order to use C Series I/O modules and have freedom in system configuration, it needs to be paired with a suitable CompactRIO chassis.

An inbuilt voltage input monitor is also included in the 781313-01. However, because of internal voltage dips, this monitor may underreport the voltage at the power connector by as much as 400 mV. In order to ensure accurate timekeeping for time-sensitive applications, it also has an inbuilt real-time clock (RTC) with an accuracy of 200 ppm, which improves to 35 ppm at 25 °C.
