National Instruments 781716-01 CompactRIO Controller

National Instruments part number 781716-01 is for the cRIO-9076 Controller. This integrated controller and chassis system for CompactRIO comes ready with various connectivity options, including a USB port and network features supporting 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet with IEEE 802.3 compatibility. Equipped with a Xilinx Spartan-6 LX 45 reconfigurable FPGA, the 781716-01 optimizes data transfer operations by providing support for five DMA channels.

The 781716-01 facilitates communication rates at 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and auto-negotiated speeds, sustaining a maximum cabling distance of 100 meters per segment. Additionally, it integrates an RS-232 serial port capable of achieving a maximum baud rate of 230,400 bps. The memory and processing capabilities of the 781716-01 include a minimum nonvolatile memory of 512 MB and 256 MB of DRAM. 

The 781716-01 device makes connecting to an Ethernet network easy, thanks to the RJ-45 Ethernet connector located on its front panel.  A connection to an Ethernet hub can be established by using either a standard CAT-5 cable or a twisted-pair Ethernet cable. Alternatively, a computer can be directly connected to the chassis by using an Ethernet crossover cable.

The 781716-01 controller is able to be mounted in a variety of ways to fit the specific needs of the test setup. It can be mounted on a panel or flat surface, a desktop, or on a 35 mm DIN rail in either direction. For applications where the 781716-01 CompactRIO controller needs to be removed quickly or applications that already have a set DIN rail arrangement, mounting on a DIN rail is the preferred technique. For applications that may encounter excessive levels of shock and vibration, mounting on a panel is preferred.
