The National Instruments 785623-01 CompactRIO Controller, often referred to as the cRIO-9045, is a rugged and high-performance embedded controller designed for advanced industrial applications. It features a 1.30 GHz Intel Atom E3930 dual-core CPU, 2 GB of DRAM, and 4 GB of storage, making it ideal for demanding tasks such as data logging, embedded monitoring, and control.
The incorporation of a Kintex-7 70T FPGA, which supports the LabVIEW FPGA Module for enhanced control and coprocessing, is one of the 785623-01's most notable features. For extremely distributed measurements, this FPGA offers deterministic communications and exact, synchronized timing via Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). Because of this, the instrument is a great option for applications that need precise timing and device coordination.
The controller makes data acquisition system configuration and programming easier by supporting NI-DAQmx. Its adaptability to various applications is further enhanced by the range of connectivity choices it offers. The 785623-01 features two Gigabit Ethernet ports with 1,000 Mb/s connection rates that support IEEE 802.3 standards. These ports fulfill the exacting standards of industrial networking by providing quick and dependable network connections with a synchronization precision of less than 1 μs.
For serial communications, the 785623-01 controller includes an RS-232 port with a maximum baud rate of 115,200 b/s and an RS-485 port with a maximum baud rate of 230,400 b/s. These ports allow you to connect to a variety of serial devices with flexibility since they offer different data bits, stop bits, and parity configurations. Moreover, the RS-485 port improves safety in industrial settings by providing a continuous isolation voltage of 60 V DC from the port to the earth ground.
To enhance connectivity, the 785623-01 is equipped with numerous USB ports. One USB Type-A host port (USB 2.0) with a 480 Mb/s maximum data rate and two USB Type-C ports are included. A single USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C connection offers DisplayPort and other alternative modes in addition to SuperSpeed data rates of up to 5 Gb/s. The additional versatility for interacting with different peripherals and devices comes from the other Type-C port's ability to operate as both a device and a host.
