National Instruments PCI-6225 Multifunction DAQ
National Instruments created the PCI-6225 (Part Number: 779295-01) data acquisition device for use in industrial automation applications. It provides an extensive feature set that is specifically designed to satisfy the needs of research, design verification/test, manufacturing test scenarios, and laboratory automation. The PCI-6225 offers dependable and affordable DAQ solutions with its analog I/O, digital I/O, counters/timers, and digital triggering capabilities.
Up to 40 differential or 80 single-ended channels with 16-bit resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 250 kS/s per channel are supported by the PCI-6225's analog input section. With its multiple input ranges (-10V to +10V), overvoltage protection, and high input impedance, it can measure a wide variety of signal types accurately and steadily. For analog output, the PCI-6225 offers two channels with 16-bit resolution and a maximum update rate of 833 kS/s. Reliable signal generation is ensured by its precise control over output voltages (-10V to +10V), low output impedance, and overdrive protection.
The digital I/O section consists of 24 channels individually programmable as input or output, with voltage protection up to ±20V. This makes it possible to seamlessly integrate external sensors and devices for increased system control and flexibility. Precise timing measurements and control functions including frequency division, pulse generation, and edge counting are made possible by two 32-bit counters/timers. In intricate automation settings, the counters/timers enable precise event recording and synchronization thanks to their numerous input possibilities and flexible routing.
The PCI-6225 also supports external digital triggers, allowing synchronization with external devices and triggering of analog input/output operations based on specific events or signals. The device can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems because it is compatible with PCI, PXI, and USB interfaces. By providing several data transfer modes—such as interrupts, DMA, and programmed I/O—it can increase data throughput and efficiency.

National Instruments PCI-6225 Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Is there a maximum amount of current that I can output for each digital line on the NI PCI 6225?
Answer: The NI PCI 6225 can output a maximum of 24 mA of current for digital lines.
Question: While using the PCI 6225 and running my LabVIEW program utilizing a DAQmx Read VI in a loop, my program locks up and stops. Then, error -200010 shows up. How do I resolve the error?
Answer: Error -200010 occurs when the program is stopped prior to all samples being collected or a buffer overflow. To prevent the error from occurring again, increase the buffer size with the Samples per Channel of the DAQmx Timing VI. You can also try decreasing the quantity of samples to read for the DAQmx Read VI.
Question: Can the PCI-6225 be calibrated?
Answer: Yes, the PCI-6225 should be calibrated every year.
Question: What is the maximum working voltage for the NI PCI-6225?
Answer: The maximum channel-to-earth working voltage for the NI PCI-6225 is 11 V, Measurement Category I.
