PXI-4472, 8-Input, PXI Sound and Vibration Module
National Instruments PXI-4472 PXI Sound and Vibration Module
National Instruments developed the high-performance dynamic signal acquisition module PXI-4472 (Part Numbers: 778664-01, 778279-01, 187123M-01L) for measuring vibration and sound in industrial automation and testing applications. With its eight input channels, it provides high-accuracy, simultaneous sampling of input signals using delta-sigma ADCs with 24-bit resolution. The difference between the part numbers for the module is that part number 778279-01 is the standard version, while part number 778664-01 describes the version of the device with a sound and vibration measurement suite. For accelerometers and microphones, integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) signal conditioning is integrated, meeting a variety of measuring requirements. Furthermore, integrated antialiasing filters dynamically adapt to the sample rate in order to avoid aliasing and guarantee precise data collection.
The PXI-4472 provides accurate measurements throughout a bandwidth of DC to 45 kHz, with a maximum sampling rate of 102.4 kS/s and an AC cutoff frequency of 3.4 Hz. The PXI-4472B variant has a lower AC cutoff frequency of 0.5 Hz for applications that are specific to vibration. There are two trigger modes that are available: pretrigger and posttrigger, providing extensive trigger capabilities. Trigger sources include analog input channels, external digital triggers, the PXI trigger bus, RTSI bus, or software triggers. This guarantees synchronized acquisition, which is essential for catching fleeting signals like vibrations brought on by hits. The PXI star trigger bus facilitates the synchronization of several PXI-4472 modules, guaranteeing a skew of less than 1 ns between devices. This great precision makes it possible to synchronize across channels, which is essential for applications that need precise measurements of amplitude and phase. The PXI-4472 offers DMA bus-master transfer speeds of 20 to 30 MB/s and burst rates up to 132 MB/s with the use of PCI mini-MITE for effective data transmission.
A 1,024-sample analog input FIFO further guards against data loss in high-speed acquisition. NI-DAQmx serves as the hardware and operating system interface, enabling seamless integration with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio software. This makes it easier to integrate automated test systems and other hardware components to create complete testing solutions. With the backing of the NI Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite and the NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit, the PXI-4472 is perfect for a variety of audio and vibration analysis applications. Power spectra, frequency responses, fractional-octave analysis, sound-level measurements, order spectra, order maps, and order extraction can all be produced with the use of these toolkits.
