National Instruments 782954-01 FlexRIO FPGA Module

The National Instruments 782954-01 (model name: PXIe-7972R) is a high performance, customizable FPGA module designed for use with LabVIEW FPGA software. This module provides reconfigurable I/O that enables flexible integration with a wide range of analog and digital signals. It is based on the Kintex-7 XC7K325T FPGA that provides 203,800 logic elements and 840 DSP48 slices which is ideal for handling complex, high speed signal processing tasks. The embedded block RAM of 16,020 kbits ensures efficient memory management for FPGA operations.

This FlexRIO FPGA module includes 136 general purpose channels which can be configured either as single ended (136) or differential pairs (68). It supports I/O rates of up to 400 Mb/s for single ended signals and 1 Gb/s for differential signals. This offers high speed communication suitable for applications that demand fast data transfers. The module is highly adaptable in terms of voltage levels supporting 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V and 3.3 V I/O standards which makes it compatible with various signal types and systems. This versatility is crucial for engineers working on different types of signal processing and communication tasks.

The onboard DRAM has a capacity of 2 GB supporting a maximum theoretical data rate of 10.5 GB/s which provides enough bandwidth for large data streams in real-time applications. The 32 DMA channels facilitate high throughput data transfers between the FPGA and the host system. This minimizes latency and enhances performance in applications requiring significant data movement, such as image processing or high speed digitization. The 782954-01 supports multi region clock inputs (6) and single region clock inputs (5) that allow synchronization across multiple clock domains.

The module's clocking capabilities are essential for systems requiring precise timing and synchronization such as instrumentation or communication systems. It also supports PXI triggers that enable seamless integration with other PXI Express-based instruments in a synchronized test environment.The NI 782954-01 module has compact dimensions of 18.8 cm x 12.9 cm and weighs 190 g.
