National Instruments NI-5742 Signal Generator Adapter Module for FlexRIO

The NI-5742 is a Signal Generator Adapter Module for FlexRIO from National Instruments. The manufacturer’s part number for the NI-5742 module is 782865-01. This module can be interfaced with a PXI FPGA Module for FlexRIO. Two FPGA types, the Kintex-7 and Virtex-5, are compatible with the NI 5742. Data can be written directly to these FPGAs. The NI-5742 can dynamically generate waveforms on the FPGA. Data can also be streamed across the PXI Backplane using the NI-5742. The NI-5742 has 12 bidirectional AUX I/O channels. These digital channels can be used for system stimulus and control. This module is well suited when high-channel density and a programmable FPGA are needed.

The NI-5742 Signal Generator Adapter Module for FlexRIO has 32 analog output channels. Each channel supports 16-Bit digital resolution. The sampling rate of these channels is manually configurable. The NI-5742 provides a sampling rate up to 1 MS/s. The NI-5742 supports parallel sampling. This means samples can be read from all channels simultaneously. The output channels have a VHDCI type connector. The analog output channels of this module are single-ended and DC-coupled. The NI-5742 also supports custom signal generation; the Controller for FlexRIO is used for this purpose. This module features additional general-purpose digital inputs and outputs. These channels use HDMI type connectors.  

The NI-5742 Signal Generator Adapter Module for FlexRIO supports the latest NI FlexRio Driver. Version 15.5 and above of the FlexRIO Driver are compatible with the NI-5742 module. The module also supports the FlexRIO Adapter Module Support Driver. Version 14.3, 15.0, and 15.1 of this older driver are compatible with the module.
