National Instruments PCI-1409 IMAQ Device
Featured with a 10-bit ADC and 16 MB of onboard memory, the National Instruments PCI-1409 (Part Number: 778200-01) is a 4-Channel Image Acquisition Device. This model offers up to 4 nonstandard or standard video sources, 4 external digital I/O or external trigger lines, 4 digital outputs for camera control, and is compatible with double-speed progressive scan cameras. The NI PCI-1409 is considered an appropriate choice by scientific imaging and machine vision developers who want to acquire measurement quality, high-resolution images from nonstandard and standard cameras and sensors. The device is compatible with the RS-170/NTSC, CCIR/PAL, VGA, and progressive scan cameras.
Through the 10-bit digitization for sensors and imaging devices, the PCI 1409 National Instruments device can bring up to 60 dB dynamic range. In addition, users can easily configure their IMAQ PCI-1409 to acquire images from CCIR or RS-170 based standard monochrome cameras. This Image Acquisition Device is offered with NI-IMAQ driver software that can scale between various types of acquisition methods and cameras. The PCI-1409 is also compatible with double-speed 60 frames per second progressive scan cameras. With NI-IMAQ, users can begin with a low-cost camera and later upgrade to a high-resolution, faster camera with minimal software modifications. Another useful feature of the PCI 1409 National Instruments is the antichrominance filter. This filter can eradicate chrominance data from a color video signal. There are two types of antichrominance filters: one for NTSC color-coded signals and one for PAL color-coded signals.
The NI device is operated using the NI-IMAQ driver software which is compatible with software packages such as Vision Builder for Automated Inspection, and Vision Development module. The driver software also serves as an interface between the device and programming environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio.
The NI PCI-1409 enables users to acquire images from variable-scan and line-scan devices with pixel clocks ranging from 2 MHz to 40 MHz. With this IMAQ Device, users can configure standard and non-standard video capture by using Measurement & Automation Explorer- a utility delivered with NI-IMAQ. The National Instruments PCI-1409 IMAQ Device comes equipped with 3 onboard DMA controllers to transfer data between the onboard FIFO and the Host memory via the PCI bus. The device weighs 0.28 lbs., and measures 4.2 x 6.9 in. in physical dimensions.
