National Instruments 784228-01 Industrial Controller

Part Number 784228-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments IC-3172 Industrial Controller. The 784228-01 ships with an Intel Core i5-5350U processor with a base frequency of 1.8GHz which can be extended to 2.9 GHz and an on-die cache of 3 MB. Likewise, it features 8 GB DDR3L RAM with a speed of 1600 MT/s and a nonvolatile storage of 4 GB. The module supports the NI Linux Real-Time 64-bit operating system.

The 784228-01 comes with a Xilinx Kintex -7 XC7K160T reconfigurable FPGA having 202800 flip-flops and 101400 6-input LUTs. Likewise, it also has 600 DSP48E1 slices, 32 DMA channels, and logical interrupts. Furthermore, the network port supports the following standards: IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, 10BASE-T, 100BASETX, and 1000BASE-T and uses a RJ45 interface. The speed can be 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps depending on the standard used. 

The 784228-01 requires a supply voltage of 9 to 30 VDC normally and 21.6 to 30 VDC when using the Power over Ethernet (PoE). The maximum power input is 150 W. On the other hand, the isolated-output power has a supply voltage of 4.5 to 30 VDC. Moreover, the user-replaceable battery is a 3V BR2032 lithium-carbon monofluoride coin cell, rated at 85 °C. 

The 784228-01 also features 2 USB 3.0 ports supporting speeds of 5 GB/s, 4 USB 2.0 ports supporting speeds of 480 Mbit/s, and 2 display ports offering maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz. Similarly, there is an RS-485/422/232 serial port using the RJ50 interface and supporting baud rates up to 115200 kbps.

Furthermore, there are 8 bidirectional TTL I/O channels with an output voltage range of 0 V to 5 V and 2 differential I/O channels with a maximum pulse rate of 5 MHz. The 784228-01 measures (6.9 in × 3.7 in × 6.6 in) in physical dimensions and weighs 3.039 kg. The module is recommended for operation between  0 °C to 55 °C and 0 °C to 50 °C when Power over Ethernet (PoE) exceeds 30 W.
