National Instruments PXIe-6612 PXI Counter/Timer Module

The PXIe-6612 (Part Number: 782352-01) is a 5 V, 8 Channel Counter/Timer Module that completes the estimation of position of encoders, the count of events, the estimation of pulse width, the periodic estimation, the pulse generation, the generation of series of pulse, and the measure of frequency. This module has eight counters/clocks, digital anti-rebound filters, and digital I/O compatible with TTL/CMOS.

The NI PXIe-6612 can perform two types of digital input measurements: hardware-timed or software-timed acquisitions. During hardware-timed acquisitions, a digital hardware signal controls the rate of the acquisition. Hardware-timed acquisitions have a shorter amount of time between samples, can use hardware triggering, and have deterministic timing between samples. For software-timed acquisitions, software manages the rate of the acquisition. Software-timed acquisitions are additionally called static or immediate acquisitions; they are normally utilized for reading one sample of data. The PXIe-6612 can be programmed using software packages such as the NIDAQmx driver software, LabVIEW, and LabWIndows/CVI.

This PXI Counter/Timer Module also comes with 40 Programmable Function Interface (PFI) signals. The PFI signals can work as timing input, timing output, or DIO signals. The 40 PFI signals are organized into a 32-bit Port 0 and an 8-bit Port 1. When a terminal is utilized for digital I/O, it is referred to as Px.y, where x is the port number and y is the line number. For instance, P1.3 alludes to Port 1, Line 3. When a terminal is utilized for timing information or output, it is called PFI x, where x is a number between 0 and 39 communicating to the PFI line number. The same physical pin has two different names based upon if it is utilized for digital I/O (Px.y) or timing I/O (PFI x).

On the PXIe-6612 module, CI represents extra input capacitance. This capacitance gives several filtering and slew-rate control advantages. Although, the capacitance confines the most extreme input frequency. CI is populated on every one of the lines except for the default counter source input pins.

The PXIe-6612 weighs 175 g. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 to 55 °C and -40 to 71 °C respectively.
