National Instruments PXI-7356 Stepper/Servo Motion Controller Module

Featured with eight 16-bit analog-to-digital converters, the NI PXI-7356 (Part Number: 778540-06) is a Sinusoidal Commutation, 6-Axis, Servo/Stepper PXI Motion Controller Module. This model comes with 64 bits of digital I/O and can be used for a broad range of applications, such as valve operations and switching of solid-state relays. The provision of 16-bit analog I/O makes this model useful for reading potentiometers or for other simple analog measurements.

The NI PXI-7356 is an ideal option for the controlling of high-axis parallel mechanisms where all axes need to be synchronized tightly. With this model, the user can start all axes at once with the help of Start Motion.flx function. In this arrangement, each axis follows the user-defined profile for velocity and acceleration. These capabilities make this model helpful when working with parallel mechanisms where axes must move at the same time.

This module comes with the static-friction feature which allows the module to compensate for present friction before the system starts moving. This preloading of the fundamental error enables the controller to start out with a high, compensated initial voltage, which results in an efficient build-up of enough torque.

The NI PXI-7356 can operate in different servo loop modes, including: PID, PIVff, S-Curve, and dual loop. The S-curve time range is 1 to 32,767 samples. For stepper outputs, this model can operate with up to 8 MHz (full, half, and micro strip) maximum pulse rate. To ensure safety and integrity, this module comes equipped with adequate safety mechanisms. It has a watchdog timer function which resets the board to the startup stage.

PXI-7356 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the motion controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
