Specially designed for modular instrumentation and DAQ applications, the National Instruments PXI-8102 (Part Numbers: 781149-00, 781149-33, 781149-02, 781149-01, and 196576C-712L) is an Intel Celeron T3100 based embedded controller for PXI systems. This model comes equipped with a robust peripheral profile, which includes: two Hi-Speed USB ports, one 10/100/1000BASE-TX (Gigabit) Ethernet Port, an integrated hard drive, one RS-232 serial port, one parallel port, and other peripheral I/O types. The different part numbers of the PXI-8102 work with different operating systems; Windows Vista (781149-02), Windows XP (781149-01), Local OS (781149-00), and Real-Time Embedded SW (781149-33).
The NI PXI-8102 comes equipped with a backed-up memory to store BIOS configuration information. With this device, the user will be able to alter the total amount of installed RAM by upgrading the SO-DIMM. The NI PXI-8102 can boot from various devices, such as the internal hard drive, a network PXE server, an external SCSI CD-ROM or hard drive, a USB hard drive or CD-ROM, or an external floppy disk drive. This controller allows users to connect a PS/2 keyboard or mouse through a USB Y-splitter cable; supported peripherals with USB connectors can be plugged directly into the PXI-8102’s USB ports.
The device is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, NI-VISA, and Measurement Studio. The device hardware can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool. The PXI-8102 is equipped with a 24-pin DSUB, 9-pin DSUB, RJ45, 36-pin champ, USB 4-pin Series A stacked receptacle (2 ports), and a SMB connector.
This controller has a DVI-I video interface connector provided on the front panel. However, a DVI-to-VGA adapter is also provided for users who want to use their VGI monitor.
