National Instruments PXI-8104 PXI Controller

Featured with an Intel® Celeron® M 440 (1.86 GHz single-core processor), 512 MB Dual-Channel DDR2 RAM, a L2 cache of 1,024 KB, and 60 GB (SATA) Hard Drive the National Instruments PXI-8104 embedded computer (Part Numbers: 779916-01, 779916-00, 779916-33, 779916-34) is a high-performance PXI system controller. This controller comes with standard I/O features and its combination with any compatible chassis such as NI PXI-1042 results in a comprehensive, PC-compatible computer in a rugged, compact package. In its standard configuration, this device comes with one DVI-I video, one parallel port, one serial port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, four Hi-Speed USB ports, a PXI trigger, and a reset button. By design, the NI PXI-8104 is a modular PC in 3U-size form factor.

 This Controller can be considered a cost-effective and viable solution for data acquisition, industrial control and test and measurement applications. To deliver realistic and intense 3D graphics, the PXI-8104 features a built-in Intel Extreme Graphics Controller. With National Instruments Factory Installation Services, the user will be able to get their device already configured with all the necessary software programs and applications such as; an arbitrary waveform generator, a digitizer, a digital multimeter (DMM), etc.

The PXI-8104 is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages such as LabVIEW, NI Modular Instruments, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.

National Instruments offers plug and play compatibility for USB peripherals. However, several plug-in modules are also available which allows the addition of more peripheral I/Os to a PXI system.  This Controller comes with a pre-installed OS. However, users can always switch over to the operating system of their choice. In its standard configuration, the National Instruments PXI-8104 weighs around 0.94 kg (2.1 lb.) and requires one system and three controller expansion slots for deployment. The NI device measures 3.2 x 5.1 x 8.5 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 5 to 50 °C with an extended option of 0 to 55 °C.

PXI-8104 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
