National Instruments PXI-8105 PXI Controller

Featured with an Intel Core Duo Processor T2500 (2.0 GHz Dual-Core) CPU, 667 MHz Front-side Bus, and 512 MB Dual-channel 667 MHz DDR2 RAM, the National Instruments PXI-8105 (Part Numbers: 779917-01, 779917-00, 779918-00, 779918-01, 779918-02, 192893A-712) is a high-performance embedded controller for use in PXI systems. This controller comes with extensive hardware resources which makes it an ideal choice for intensive applications. The processor incorporated in the PXI-8105 has two computing engines or cores located in one physical package.

The dual-core processor incorporated in this controller can execute two computing tasks simultaneously. This makes it possible - the execution of two applications such as Microsoft Excel and NI LabVIEW. However, this feature can only be used in environments where multiple applications can run in parallel such as Windows XP. To deliver maximum flexibility, performance, and stability the NI PXI-8105 has incorporated the Intel 945GM Express chipset. As far as its I/O capabilities are concerned, this model has 4 x Hi-Speed USB ports, 1 x Serial port (RS232), 1 x GPIB (IEEE 488) controller, 1 x 10/100/1000 BASE-TX Ethernet, 1 x ExpressCard/34 slot, and 1 x Watchdog/trigger SMB.

 In its default configuration, the National Instruments PXI-8105 is offered with Windows XP Professional preloaded. However, this embedded controller allows the installation of user-defined or multiple operating systems as well. By using the ExpressCard/34 slot, users can also add another gigabit Ethernet port to their system. The NI PXI-8105 has two SO-DIMM sockets with upgrade options to 4 GB. For its deployment, this model requires one system slot and three controller expansion slots. The device has a weight of 2.1 lbs., with the dimensions: 3.2 x 5.1 x 8.5 in.

The device operates on the NI-DAQ hardware driver which is compatible with NI application software/application development environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio. The device is also compatible with the NI Modular Instruments package which provides specialized drivers such as Express Vis, NI-RFSG, NI-RFSA, NI Switches, DMMs, High-Speed DIO, and a lot more.

PXI-8105 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the controller will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
