779360-01, 8 Channels, 16-Bit Resolution, ±10 V, PXI-7833R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module
National Instruments 779360-01 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module
The 779360-01 is a multifunction reconfigurable I/O module that is part of the PXI-7833 model series by National Instruments. It is a complex PXI module. This sophisticated module has 96 digital I/O (DIO) lines, 8 analog inputs (AI), 8 analog outputs (AO), and is meant to be highly versatile and perform well. The 779360-01's primary component is a user-programmable FPGA, namely the Virtex-II with three million gates, which allows for fine timing control and a highly configurable device.
With the ability to handle up to 200 kHz at 16-bit resolution for the analog inputs and up to 1 MHz for the analog outputs, the module can support independent sampling and update speeds. Up to 40 MHz of operation per digital line allows you great versatility in terms of using them as inputs, outputs, counters, or custom logic. This flexibility is further increased by the ability to program using the LabVIEW FPGA Module, which dispenses with the necessity for a hardware description language (HDL) or low-level programming language and lets users create timing and functionality graphically.
Using the speed and dependability of hardware timing, this hardware-software integration guarantees total control over the synchronization and timing of all signals, enabling customized onboard decision-making. For sophisticated applications demanding exact timing and control, the 779360-01 is perfect because it offers digital lines that may be independently set for different functions, such as flexible encoder inputs, pulse-width modulation, or customized communication protocols.
The 779360-01 has dedicated analog-to-digital converter (ADC) per channel. Separate timing and triggering are made possible by this arrangement, supporting specific functions that are frequently above the capability of ordinary data gathering gear, such as individual channel triggering and multirate sampling. The 779360-01 is hence ideally suited for uses such as digital protocol emulation, quick prototyping, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, sensor simulation, and custom discrete and analog control.
The module uses a successive approximation type ADC with a 16-bit resolution and provides 8 channels with software-selectable input modes (DIFF, RSE, NRSE) that are applicable to all channels. The single-ended voltage types of the outputs offer a reliable solution for a range of industrial automation jobs.
