National Instruments 780563-01 FPGA Module for FlexRIO

The National Instruments 780563-01 (or PXI-7954R) is a Virtex-5 LX110 FPGA Module designed to be used in FlexRIO module. This R-series FPGA module features 69,120 LUTs/flip-flops, 64 DSP48 slices, and 4,608 embedded block RAM. It pairs with FlexRIO adapter modules to deliver high-performance analog and digital I/O. This module is ideal for applications that require custom hardware processing and high-speed data acquisition.

The 780563-01 FPGA unit operates with maximum power requirements of +5 VDC at 2 A, +3.3 VDC at 2 A, and +12 V at 0.5 A. Its maximum working voltage is 0 V to 3.3 V for both channel-to-earth and channel-to-channel configurations. The default timebase operates at 40 MHz along with a timebase accuracy of ±100 ppm and a peak-to-peak jitter of 250 ps while referencing the PXI 10 MHz clock (PXI_CLK10).

The 780563-01 module is equipped with 3 x DMA channels and the data transfers are efficiently managed via DMA, interrupts, and programmed I/O. It provides 132 general-purpose I/O channels configurable as 132 single-ended, 66 differential, or a combination of both. Each bank of channels offers specific configurations: Banks 0 and 2 have 32 single-ended channels each, while Banks 1 and 3 have 34 single-ended channels each. The module supports various I/O standards that include 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, and 3.3 V along with maximum data rates of 400 Mb/s for single-ended and 1 Gb/s for differential LVDS.

The NI 780563-01 includes two banks of onboard DRAM, each with 64 MB. It also offers a maximum theoretical data rate of 800 MB/s per bank. The bus interface is PXI that supports master and slave configurations, and is compatible with x4, x8, and x16 PXI Express or PXI Express hybrid slots. The module dimensions are 18.8 cm by 12.9 cm, and it weighs 190 g.

It is designed to be operated under the rated temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C. It can be stored in temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 70 °C and a relative humidity range of 5% to 95%, non-condensing. The 780563-01meets various safety standards such as IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1. It also complies with EMC standards (EN 61326-1, EN 55011, AS/NZS CISPR 11, FCC 47 CFR Part 15B, and ICES-001).
