National Instruments 781101-01 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device.

The National Instruments 781101-01 is a multifunction reconfigurable I/O device which is also identified as PCle-7842. It features a Virtex-5 LX50 FPGA that provides 28,800 flip-flops, 28,800 6-input LUTs, and 48 DSP48 slices for complex onboard processing. The device also includes 1,728 kbits of embedded block RAM for efficient data handling.

The NI 781101-01 DAQ device offers 8 x analog input channels with DIFF, RSE, and NRSE input modes. It utilizes a successive approximation ADC with a 16-bit resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 200 kS/s per channel. The input impedance is 10 GΩ in parallel with 100 pF when powered on, and the input signal range is ±10 V. The device supports overvoltage protection up to ±42 V when powered on and ±35 V when powered off. Its analog input bandwidth is 1 MHz for small signals and 500 kHz for large signals.
The analog output section includes 8 x single-ended voltage output channels. It employs an enhanced R-2R DAC with a 16-bit resolution that offers a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s and a voltage range of ±10 V. The output impedance is 0.5 Ω, with a current drive capability of ±2.5 mA.

The 781101-01 device also features 96 TTL-compatible digital I/O channels. It supports PCI/PCIe/PXI bus interfaces and offers data transfers via DMA, interrupts, and programmed I/O. Three DMA channels are available in this multifunction RIO device. The power requirements for this 781101-01 model are +3.3 VDC (±5%) at 984 mA and +12 V (±5%) at 0.5 A. The device measures 17 cm x 11 cm and weighs 127 g. The device offers independent timing and triggering due to it’s A/D converter per channel. It includes 3 x 68-pin female high-density VHDCI connectors for I/O connections. 

The operating conditions for this 781101-01 DAQ device range from 0 to 40°C with 10-90% relative humidity. The device can be stored at temperatures between -20 and +70°C. It should be installed under the altitude range of 0 to 2000 meters above sea level.
