National Instruments 782118-01 Temperature Input Module

National Instruments part number 782118-01 is an identifying part number for the PXIe-4357, a PXI Temperature Input Module. The NI 782118-01 is a 20-channel, 24-bit Resolution PXI Temperature Input Module. This input module has integrated data acquisition and signal conditioning for 2‑, 3‑, or 4‑wire resistance temperature detector (RTD) measurements. It features both high-speed and high-resolution modes, allowing for versatile application use.

Each channel supports software-programmable configurations and automatically scales measured data into engineering units. The Module is a front-mount terminal block that provides screw terminal connectivity. It operates in both high-speed and high-resolution modes. This 20-channel module features five 24-bit delta-sigma analog-to-digital converters, achieving measurement accuracies of 0.09 °C with antialiasing and low pass filters. This module supports temperature measurements ranging from -200 °C to 850 °C using PT100 RTDs. It can also measure resistance in the range of 0 Ω to 400 Ω. Furthermore, each channel provides an excitation current of 0.9 mA for accurate measurements.

The 782118-01 RTD Module also supports a 3-wire measurement mode, which enhances accuracy over the 2-wire mode by effectively canceling out the effects of lead-wire resistance, provided the lead-wire resistance is the same at both terminals. This mode significantly reduces lead wire errors, with the 3-wire mode offset specifications accounting for 10 meters of 22 AWG copper lead wires. Additionally, the module can operate in a 4-wire measurement mode.

This NI device utilizes a Delta-Sigma ADC for precise analog-to-digital conversion. Operating in scanned sampling mode, it achieves a maximum sample rate of 100 samples per second (S/s), ideal for applications requiring accurate and consistent data acquisition over multiple channels. Additionally, it offers digital triggers such as Start Trigger, Reference Trigger, and Pause Trigger, enhancing control and synchronization in data acquisition processes. These features collectively make the device suitable for applications demanding precise measurements and reliable performance under varying operating conditions.
