National Instruments 783485-01 PXI Digital Reconfigurable I/O Module

The National Instruments 783485-01 or PXIe-7821R is a reconfigurable I/O module designed for high performance digital applications. This device features a user programmable Kintex-7 160T FPGA that offers flexible I/O operations and onboard processing capabilities. With LabVIEW FPGA integration, users can configure each digital line as an input, output, counter/timer, PWM or specialized communication protocol. The module supports peer-to-peer streaming that allows direct data transfer between PXI Express modules for high speed and efficient data handling.

The 783485-01 module’s digital I/O features include four connectors each supporting 32 channels with a maximum operating frequency of 80 MHz. The module is compatible with various logic families that include LVTTL and LVCMOS with software selectable logic levels ranging from 1.2V to 3.3V. Each channel offers programmable voltage selection, input impedance and protection against voltage surges. The digital output channels support current sinking and sourcing with programmable power on states and protection. The onboard DRAM provides 512 MB of memory with a maximum data streaming rate of 800 MB/s supporting data intensive operations such as high speed waveform generation and sensor simulation.

The 783485-01 is housed in a compact PXI Express form factor that is compatible with x4, x8, and x16 PXI Express or hybrid slots. It supports various data transfer methods, including DMA, interrupts and programmed I/O with 16 DMA channels available for efficient data management. The module's environmental specifications include an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and the ability to withstand shock and vibration according to military standards.
