National Instruments 783486-01 PXI Digital Reconfigurable I/O Module

The National Instruments 783486-01 PXI Digital Reconfigurable I/O Module is a versatile and powerful device designed for flexible and high performance I/O operations. This model is also known as the PXIe‑7822R. This module is equipped with a Kintex-7 325T FPGA that allows for user programmable onboard processing. This enables precise timing, control and custom decision making with hardware timed speed. 

The module supports a range of digital I/O configurations with each of the 128 channels across four connectors being individually configurable as inputs, outputs, counter/timers, PWM, or encoder inputs. This flexibility is crucial for applications like high-speed waveform generation, sensor simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and bit error rate testing. The 783486-01 module offers a wide compatibility range supporting LVTTL and LVCMOS logic families with software selectable logic levels to match the specific needs of different applications. The default logic level is set to 3.3 V but it can be adjusted from 1.2 V to 3.3 V per connector at compilation. The module's digital I/O channels can operate at a maximum frequency of 80 MHz. Each I/O line can be programmed individually that allows for tailored configurations depending on the specific requirements of the task at hand.

The NI 783486-01 supports high throughput data streaming with 512 MB of onboard DRAM and with a maximum theoretical data rate of 800 MB/s. The device also includes 16 DMA channels that ensure efficient data transfer between the module and the host system. The module's FPGA can utilize a variety of timebases ranging from 10 MHz to 200 MHz with a default timebase of 40 MHz. The physical design of the reconfigurable I/O module is compact and can fit into a 16 cm by 10 cm PXI Express form factor. The module is robust and designed to withstand operational shocks up to 30 g and vibrations. It meets various international safety standards including IEC, EN, UL and CSA that ensure it is safe for use in a wide range of industrial and laboratory settings. The model operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and can be stored in temperatures as low as -40 °C. It also supports operating humidity levels of 10 % to 90 % RH.
