The National Instruments 784145-01 (PXIe-7856R) is a high performance multifunction reconfigurable I/O module designed for PXI Express systems. It is equipped with 8 analog input (AI) channels, 8 analog output (AO) channels and 48 digital I/O (DIO) channels. This module incorporates a Kintex-7 160T FPGA that supports a diverse range of applications requiring high speed and precise data acquisition and control. Each analog input channel offers a 16 bit resolution with a maximum sampling rate of 1 MS/s per channel. Users can select from different input modes such as differential (DIFF), non referenced single ended (NRSE) and referenced single ended (RSE). The input impedance varies based on the state of the 784145-01 with 1.25 GΩ when powered on and a minimum of 4 kΩ when powered off or during overload conditions. Input signal ranges are also software selectable offering ranges from ± 1 V to ± 10 V that allow for adaptability in various application scenarios.

Analog output channels feature a 16 bit resolution and support an update rate of up to 1 MS/s. These channels utilize an enhanced R-2R type DAC that is capable of delivering output signals in a range of ± 10 V. The output circuit is designed with a low impedance of 0.5 Ω and includes overvoltage protection up to ± 15 V when powered on and ± 10 V when off. The digital I/O channels support a maximum frequency of 80 MHz and are compatible with various logic families including LVTTL and LVCMOS. Users can configure the digital voltage levels and direction control of the DIO channels on a per channel basis. This ensures compatibility and flexibility across different digital interfaces.
