National Instruments 786502-01 Frame Grabber Reconfigurable Device

The National Instruments 786502-01 is identified as a PCIe-1477 PoCL-Supported Frame Grabber Reconfigurable Device. It is a high-quality image acquisition device designed for high-performance applications that require advanced camera interfacing and processing capabilities. Supporting the Camera Link 2.1 standard, this module accommodates various configurations including Base, Medium, Full, 72-bit, and 80-bit. It offers flexibility in connectivity by featuring two 26-pin SDR camera connectors and a 15-pin high-density female D-SUB for general-purpose digital I/O. The instrument is built on an x8 PCIe form factor which compliant with PCIe specification v2.0. It is compatible with both x8 and x16 PCIe slots, with up-plugging available for x16 slots. 

The 786502-01 is powered by a reconfigurable Kintex-7 325T FPGA which offers 407,600 flip-flops, 203,800 6-input LUTs, 840 DSP48 slices, and 16,020 kbits of embedded block RAM. This FPGA configuration facilitates high-speed image processing directly on the device. It’s 2,048 MB DDR3L SDRAM helps in achieving a theoretical data rate of 10.66 GB/s. This module includes six bidirectional TTL I/O channels with a voltage range of 0 V to 5 V and a maximum pulse rate of 2 MHz. It also features two bidirectional RS-422 or single-ended differential I/O channels that support a maximum pulse rate of 5 MHz with a differential input threshold of ±0.2 V. The isolated input channels that are designed for current sinking and reverse polarity protection operate within a voltage range of 0 V to 30 V. The turn-on current for input channels is 7.1 – 14 mA.

The NI 786502-01 features dual Power over Camera Link (PoCL) with SafePower that delivers up to 4 W per connector at a nominal 12 V. The onboard power requirements include +3.3 V at 3.0 A and +12 V at 1.9 A, with auxiliary voltage support at +12 V at 1.2 A. The overall dimensions of this image acquisition device are 16.8 cm x 11.2 cm (6.6 in. × 4.4 in.) and weighs 180 grams (6.35 oz). The device is specially designed for indoor use with operating temperatures ranging from 0 °C to 55 °C, as per IEC 60068-2-1 and IEC 60068-2-2. The relative humidity range for this PCLe-1477 module is 10 – 90% (non-condensing) and it should be stored under the temperature range of -20 °C to 70 °C.
