National Instruments 787355-01 PXI Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module

The National Instruments 787355-01 or PXIe-7865 PXI Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module is a versatile and powerful tool for applications requiring high speed control, sensor simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing. This module integrates a user programmable Kintex-7 160T FPGA that allows precise control over I/O signals and enables complex onboard processing. The FPGA offers 202,800 flip-flops, 101,400 LUTs, and 600 DSP48 slices.

The 787355-01 module features 24 analog output channels and 2 analog input channels each with a 16 bit resolution. The analog inputs utilize a Successive Approximation Register (SAR) ADC. They offer a maximum sampling rate of 1 MS/s per channel and input voltage ranges selectable from ± 1V to ± 10 V. This flexibility in input ranges along with the ± 42 V overvoltage protection makes the module ideal for handling various sensor signals with high accuracy. The analog outputs driven by an enhanced R-2R DAC support a ± 10 V range with a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s.

The NI 787355-01 model includes 32 digital I/O channels with input tolerance up to 5 V compatible with TTL, LVTTL and LVCMOS logic levels. Each channel is programmable for direction control and offers a maximum frequency of 20 MHz. The module’s reconfigurable FPGA enables custom timing, synchronization and data processing. The multifunction reconfigurable I/O module also supports peer-to-peer streaming that allows direct data transfer to other PXI Express modules. The onboard DRAM of 512 MB facilitates efficient data buffering and high speed streaming with a theoretical data rate of up to 800 MB/s. This feature combined with the module’s synchronization resources like PXI_Trig and PXI_Star ensures seamless integration into complex test and measurement systems.

The 787355-01 is designed to fit in x4, x8, and x16 PXI Express or PXI Express hybrid slots. The model comes with dimensions of 21.4 cm × 13.0 cm × 2.1 cm and a weight of 177.6 g. It requires a power supply of + 3.3 V at 2.25 A and + 12 V at 1.65 A. The module is equipped with three 68-pin VHDCI connectors for I/O that offer robust and secure connections. Safety voltages are rated at ± 12 V channel-to-earth and ±24 V channel-to-channel.
