National Instruments PCIe-7821 Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device

The PCIe-7821 is a Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device by National Instruments. This device is available under part number 785359-01. This device configures digital lines for different functions and supports onboard processing and flexible I/O operation. A user-programmable FPGA is provided in this device for these features. The built-in FPGA is a Kintex-7 160T. The PCIe-7821 also features configurable synchronization and timing for signals.

The PCIe-7821 Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device has four digital connectors for I/O connections. Each connector contains 32 channels. Each digital channel is individually programmable. These channels can function as I/O, PWM, encoder inputs, or timers/counters.  The default software setting of the digital channels is 3.3 volts. However, various logic level options are available that can be selected through software. The supported logic levels are 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, and 3.3V. The digital channels of the PCIe-7821 have a maximum frequency of 80 MHz. The digital connectors are compatible with LVTTL and LVCMOS. The digital channels have an output impedance of 50 Ω. The PCIe-7821 offers protection against overvoltage up to +20 V for the digital channels. Four external clocks can be connected to this device. The maximum supported clock rate is 80 MHz. The PCIe-7821 incorporates a dynamic RAM. The memory of the DRAM is 512 RAM.

The PCIe-7821 Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device is ideal for various testing applications. This device is used to generate high-speed waveforms. This model is also used in HIL and bit error rate tests. The PCIe-7821 is specifically designed for applications requiring precise timing and control. The PCIe-7821 is additionally used in sensor simulation and can be configured for custom digital DAQ and communications protocol.
