The PXI-7831 is a Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device by National Instruments. This device is a member of the R Series. The PXI-7831 is an intelligent device featuring FPGA-based system controller for timing. The NI PXI-7831 can configure all digital and analog channels for specified applications. This model supports triggering and timing functions that can be programmed by the user. The PXI-7831 is specifically designed for precise operations. The module features three adjustment levels. The basic level is the fastest but least precise. The last level is very precise, but it is harder and slower. The intermediate level is an optimization between speed and precision.
The PXI-7831 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device features eight analog inputs. The resolution of the input terminals is 16 bits. This device can sample data up to 200 kS/s. The conversion time of the PXI-7831 is 4 μs. The PXI-7831 supports input signals in the range of +10 volts. The input terminals of this device can bear up to +42 V without getting burned. However, the working voltage should remain less than +12 V for a smooth and safe operation of the module. The PXI-7831 features eight 16-bit analog output terminals as well. These terminals can be updated at a maximum rate of 1 MS/s. The update time is 1 μs.
The PXI-7831 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device has 96 digital terminals. These terminals are programmable as inputs, outputs, counters/timers, or custom logic. The FPGA used in this device is a Virtex-II V1000. The RAM size of the FPGA is 720 kbits. The FPGA can be programmed using a LabVIEW FPGA module. The PXI-7831 also supports signal conditioning and I/O expansion. For this feature, the model can be interfaced with the NI-9151.
PXI-7831 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the device will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
