National Instruments PXI-7851R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module

The National Instruments PXI-7851R (Part Number: 780339-01) is a Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module has a designated A/D converter or ADC for each channel. The ADC is used for independent timing and triggering. Features such as multirate sampling and separate channel triggering are available on this module, which are features not usually found on data acquisition hardware. The PXI-7851R has eight separate analog input channels, eight separate analog output channels, and 96 bidirectional DIO lines that the user can arrange separately for output or input. The FPGA on this National Instruments module is a Virtex-5 LX30.

For the PXI-7851R Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module, the bipolar output range is set at ±10 V. Certain applications involve the analog output channels powering on to recognized voltage levels. The user can arrange the PXI-7851 to load and run a VI when the module turns on. Then, the VI can designate the analog output channels to the necessary voltage levels. The VI reads information written to the DAC in two’s complement arrangement. An important note to remember is that if the VI does not designate the output value for an analog output channel, then the analog output channel’s voltage output will remain unspecified.

The National Instruments PXI-7851R module also has a replaceable fuse, which prevents overcurrent from occurring through the power connector. The part number is 0453004. To replace a blown fuse, the user can refer to the R Series user manual, which is available on the apexwaves.com website, for step-by-step instructions and diagrams.
