National Instruments SCXI-1102B Voltage Input Module

The SCXI-1102B (Part Number: 776572-02B) has a three-pole lowpass filter with a 200 Hz cutoff frequency, 32 differential channels, and DC input coupling. This module also has a cold-junction compensation sensor for temperature measurements. The inputs on this module can be multiplexed to one output, which in turn drives one DAQ device channel. Applications can be developed on the device using the NI-DAQmx driver software and other application development environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.

The SCXI 1102B has a differential input signal range of ±10 V when utilizing a gain of 1 or ±0.1 V when utilizing a gain of 100. The differential input range is the greatest measurable voltage variance between the positive and negative channel inputs. The common-mode input signal range of the NI SCXI-1102B Voltage Input Module is ±10 V. The common-mode input range for positive or negative channel input is the greatest input voltage that leads to an accurate measurement. Every channel on the SCXI-1102B module comes with input protection circuitry to endure the unintentional application of voltages to ±42 VAC peak or 60 VDC maximum. The user should keep in mind that going above the differential or common-mode input channel ranges will lead to an inaccurate signal measurement. It can also result in an increased settling time prerequisite of the linked E/M Series DAQ instrument.

The input signals on the NI SCXI-1102B Voltage Input Module can be ground-referenced or floating. Prior to linking the thermocouple or another signal, the user must confirm if it is ground-referenced or floating. Floating signals must be ground-referenced by linking the negative channel input to chassis ground via a bias resistor. The second option is to utilize the bias resistors included with certain terminal blocks, such as the SCXI-1303. The NI device is equipped with a 96-pin male DIN C front connector and a 50-pin male ribbon cable rear connector. The device weighs 24.6 oz., and measures 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C.

SCXI-1102B Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
