National Instruments SCXI-1162HV Digital I/O Module

The NI SCXI-1162HV (Part Number: 776572-62H) has 32 channels of optically-isolated digital inputs, which are organized into eight separate banks of four input lines each. This Digital I/O Module senses the existence of a variety of AC or DC signals. These signals can be anything from digital logic level signals to 240 VAC/VDC maximum signals. The optical isolation on the SCXI-1162HV removes ground-loop issues and separates the host computer from harmful voltages. An SCXI system containing the NI SCXI 1162HV can be operated in many types of industrial and laboratory applications. This module keeps the computer safe from large common-mode voltages, ground loops, and voltage spikes that frequently take place in industrial and research settings.

The SCXI-1162HV Digital I/O Module can monitor TTL level inputs and sense the existence of high-voltage AC and DC signals. One such example is that the SCXI-1162HV can be utilized to sense the on/off status of power circuits, proximity switches, pushbutton switches, thermostats, and relays. This module interfaces straight to field digital logic input signals that should be segregated from the host computer. Field digital signals link to screw terminals in the SCXI-1326 Terminal Block, which links to the front of the NI SCXI-1162HV. Another option is to link the TBX-1326 DIN-rail mountable Terminal Block to the SCXI-1162HV module with a SH48-48-B Shielded Cable. The device is equipped with a 50-pin male ribbon-cable rear connector and a 48-pin DIN C male front connector.

This Digital I/O Module has two modes of operation: multiplexer and parallel mode. The first mode allows one DAQ instrument to read 32-bit digital patterns from the information register of one or more SCXI module through the SCXIbus by utilizing a serial data protocol. This mode can utilize five DIO lines of the DAQ instrument at the most. However, parallel mode links every module straight to a digital I/O DAQ device. These devices include: 503 (DIO-24), 6533 (DIO-32HS), 6534, and 6508 (DIO-96). The NI device measures 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 in. in physical dimensions.

SCXI-1162HV Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
