National Instruments PCI-8517/2 FlexRay Interface Device
The NI PCI-8517/2 is an Interface Device with 2 ports and a NI-XNET FlexRay Interface. FlexRay Interface Devices allow PCs to link to and communicate on a FlexRay bus. Since there are two FlexRay interface ports available on this device, the PCI-8517/2 allows a separate engine control unit to be linked to the interface when other types of cold-start nodes are not accessible. The interfaces can additionally be utilized separately to link two individual FlexRay networks, while upholding complete performance on both interfaces. This device has TJA1080 transceivers, which can be used for cold-start and normal applications. The NI-XNET driver can be utilized to create frame and signal applications in LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and C/C++.
Since the PCI-8517/2 is a member of the NI-XNET platform, this device is suitable for applications that entail real-time, high-speed manipulation of hundreds of FlexRay frames and signals. Several examples of these types of applications would be automation control, hardware-in-the-loop simulation, bus monitoring, quick control prototyping, and others.
The integrated FlexRay Interface on the National Instruments PCI-8517/2 device can be employed for importing, modifying, and utilizing signals from FIBEX. Other advantageous features of this device include synchronization, external sync connectors, and 1 μs timestamps for integration with other National Instruments devices. The NI PCI-8517/2 FlexRay Interface Device has a 9-pin male D-SUB I/O connector for both ports and an SMB jack sync connector as well. There are two input/output front panel sync connectors, 7 input/output trigger lines, and an input/output clock line. The power-on state of this FlexRay Interface Device is Input (High-Z).
PCI-8517/2 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
