National Instruments PXIe-8280 PXI Ethernet Interface Module

The PXIe-8280 (Part Number: 788261-01) is a cutting-edge 50-Gigabit remote direct memory access (RDMA) interface designed for PXI Express applications. Featuring a single-slot PXI Express module with a 50-Gigabit Ethernet QSFP28 port, it supports RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE). With a Gen3 x8 PCI Express connection, it ensures high-performance data transfer.

This module draws power from both 3.3 V and 12 V power rails. The current drawn varies depending on the cable connected. With a Passive Direct Connect Cable Type, it typically draws 0.61 A (18.33 W) from the +3.3 V rail and 1.36 A (18.33 W) from the +12 V rail. Using an Optical Cable Type, typical current draws are 1.12 A (20.02 W) for +3.3 V and 1.36 A (20.02 W) for +12 V.

Operating within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, it is suitable for indoor use. Storage temperature ranges from -40 °C to 71 °C. It operates in humidity conditions ranging from 10% to 90% RH and can be stored in humidity conditions from 5% to 95% RH, both noncondensing. The product is suitable for use in environments with a Pollution Degree of 2 and altitudes of up to 2,000 m.

The PXIe-8280 requires strict environmental requirements. It is capable of withstanding non-operating vibration at 2.4 g RMS and running vibration at 0.3 g RMS between 5 Hz and 500 Hz. With an 11 ms pulse duration, the operating shock tolerance is rated at 30 g, half-sine.

Applications requiring fast data transfer across Ethernet connections are best suited for this interface. Its Mellanox OCP card-based QSFP28 port guarantees dependable connectivity. Applications involving high-performance computing, data center networking, and industrial automation can all benefit from this module.

It is advised to strain-relieve any cables close to input connectors in order to guarantee optimum performance and longevity. Directionality bias should be avoided while applying strain relief. The PXIe-8280 provides a flexible solution for demanding data transfer requirements in a range of industrial and networking contexts thanks to its small form factor and sturdy construction.
