National Instruments REM-11180 Bus Coupler
The National Instruments REM-11180 (Part Number: 784741-01) Bus Coupler allows the integration of modular I/O devices within EtherCAT systems, therefore allowing deterministic communication and data transfer to host systems. It supports up to 63 modules per coupler and an EtherCAT cycle time of 100 microseconds; hence, it is scalable and efficient for distributed control and measurement systems.
Designed for versatility, the REM-11180 is fully compatible with Real-Time controllers, including CompactRIO or Industrial Controllers. With enhanced management for DIN rail-mounted modular I/O systems, the coupler facilitates high performance in basic machine control applications to advanced ones like high-speed data acquisition and image processing. The REM-11180 has dual Ethernet ports that make network configurations easily accessible by daisy-chaining several systems.
The REM-11180 allows for easy system setup with automatic addressing and direct assignment of device IDs with only minimum manual intervention. It also operates reliably within the harsh temperature range from -25°C to 60°C. The 24 VDC supply input to the bus coupler supply of the REM-11180 is within a range of 19.2 to 30 VDC, supplying up to 2 A of power to modules connected, hence making it efficient and secure against overload.
The REM-11180 is compact and lightweight; it measures 125.9 mm x 45 mm x 74 mm and weighs 177 g for space-constrained installs. Standard RJ45 connectors are applied for EtherCAT communication, while a micro-USB service port is added for convenience. The REM-11180 is designed for industrial-grade reliability: it meets the most rigorous EMC standards and resists vibration and shock to EN/IEC specifications for dependable operation in harsh conditions.
The REM-11180 Bus Coupler complies with CE and environmental regulations, has ingress protection IP20, and operates at indoor installation sites at up to 3000 m above sea level.
