National Instruments 779680-01 Sound and Vibration Input Module

The National Instruments 779680-01 Sound and Vibration Input Module is a crucial component of the NI-9234 Model series. The function of this module is to measure with high accuracy both non-IEPE (acceleration, tachometer, and proximity probes) and integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) sensors. With software-selectable AC/DC coupling and IEPE signal filtering, it incorporates a large dynamic range and supports smart TEDS sensors. There are four analog input channels on the module, and each one may sample simultaneously at up to 51.2 kS/s.

The 779680-01 facilitates accurate data capture with its internal master timebase and 24-bit Delta-Sigma ADC, both operating at 13.1072 MHz with an accuracy of ±50 ppm. It works with IEEE 1451.4 TEDS Class I sensors and uses the internal master timebase to offer a data rate range of 1.652 kS/s to 51.2 kS/s. The data rates that can be achieved with external master timebase operation range from 0.391 kS/s to 52.734 kS/s.

The module's built-in anti-aliasing filters automatically adapt to the sampling rate, and it has AC/DC coupling as an input characteristic. A maximum phase deviation of (fin * 0.045° + 0.04) is ensured via channel-to-channel matching. Adhering to strict limits, the gain fluctuates between 0.01 dB on average and 0.04 dB at most.

The high-performance capabilities of the 779680-01 are enhanced by its 0.45 * fs alias-free bandwidth and 64 * fs oversample rate. It shows a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR), with a minimum of 40 dB and a mean value of 47 dB for frequencies up to 1 kHz, and minimal crosstalk (-110 dB at 1 kHz). Furthermore, the outstanding 120 dB spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) is achieved at a 1 kHz input frequency and -60 dBFS signal level.

Processing capabilities for condition monitoring applications, including frequency analysis and order tracking, are provided by this module, which is compatible with NI software. Because of its adaptability, it can be used in a wide range of industrial applications, such as harshness, vibration, and noise testing inside vehicles and machine condition monitoring.
