National Instruments NI-9269 C Series Voltage Output Module

The NI-9269 (Part Numbers: 781098-01 and 781098-02) is a 16-bit, four analog output channel, 100 kS/s maximum sampling rate per channel module. The NI-9269 adds channel-to-channel isolation for expanded security, improved signal quality, and the capacity to stack channels to output up to 40 V. NI CompactDAQ support has been included as of NI-DAQmx Version 9.1. The device can be programmed using software packages like LabVIEW Professional Development System for Windows, LabVIEW FPGA Module, or LabVIEW Real-Time Module. Channel-to-channel isolation is generally required for applications that have different electrical frameworks, such as automotive test or industrial applications that are subjected to expanded noise and frequently contain various ground planes.

The National Instruments NI-9269 Voltage Output Module allows the user to associate a load to each channel of the NI 9269. The user can associate the positive lead of the load to the AO+ terminal and interface the ground of the load to the relating AO– terminal. However, cascading more than four output channels of multiple NI-9269 modules goes against the electrical security and overvoltage assurance evaluations. Since the outputs of this module can source and sink current, it is not feasible to enhance the current drive by linking output channels in parallel. If the NI-9269 Voltage Output Module is being used in an application that is prone to extreme vibration, it is suggested to utilize the NI-9971 Backshell Kit and utilize ferrules to terminate wires to the detachable connector. These two suggestions will help protect links to the module.

Since the NI-9269 module’s outputs can source and sink current, it is not conceivable to expand the current drive by associating output channels in parallel. Each channel of the NI-9269 has an output voltage range of ±10 V and can drive to ±10 mA current maximum. The total output current of all channels is restricted to ±20 mA. For instance, if the output current of AO0 is ±10 mA, the output current of AO<1, 2, 3> is limited to ±10 mA total to or ±3.33 mA each. The NI device weighs 5.5 oz., and has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C.
