National Instruments roboRIO Embedded Controller for Robotics

The roboRIO from National Instruments is a versatile and embedded controller designed for robotics. Highly customizable, the controller features built-in ports for I2C, SPI, RS232, USB, Ethernet, PWM, and relays - all of which can be used to give you greater control over your project. These various ports allow you to have seamless communication and connectivity across a range of devices, making the roboRIO an ideal solution for even the more complex applications. One of the key features of the roboRIO are the LED indicators, which make it easy to monitor and control your robotic systems. Additionally, the controller features an onboard accelerometer, which allows for accurate sensing and monitoring of movement and orientation.

The roboRIO controller is designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use, making it an ideal solution for applications where reliability and durability are critical. The controller is equipped with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 real-time processor and Xilinx FPGA that can be programmed using the LabVIEW platform. This customizable combination of technology offers high performance and stability that can be tailored to your specific needs.

The roboRIO is equipped with a 2 core Xilinx Z-7020 All Programmable SoC dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, which has a processing speed of 667 MHz. The controller also includes 512 MB of nonvolatile memory, which provides ample storage space for your applications and data. The roboRIO includes a 10BaseT and 100BaseTX Ethernet network interface that is compatible with IEEE 802.3 networking standards. It supports communication rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and auto-negotiated speeds. The maximum network cabling distance is 100 m/segment, making it suitable for use in large-scale industrial applications.

The NI roboRIO controller is available in two models: part number 783581-01 for general use and part number 784337-01 for industrial use. Additionally, there are multiple power cords available for use with the roboRIO, depending on the country where it will be used. These power cords can be found under part numbers 784611-01 (U.S.), 784611-04 (Europe), 784611-06 (U.K.), 784611-07 (Japan), 784611-09 (Korea), and 784611-10 (China). If a replacement power supply is needed, it can be found under part number 784502-01.
