National Instruments NI-1450 Compact Vision System

The National Instruments NI-1450 (part numbers: 778791-01, 778790-01) is a compact vision system that acquires, processes, and displays images from IEEE 1394 cameras. This imaging system conforms to version 1.30 of the IIDC 1394-based Digital Camera Specification. The NI-1450 provides an array of digital input/output (I/O) options, enabling seamless communication with external devices to effortlessly configure and initiate inspections while providing clear result indicators. By establishing an Ethernet connection between the NI-1450 and a development computer, you can conveniently display measurement results, monitor status information, and effortlessly configure the NI-1450 settings. Once the system is configured, it can autonomously execute applications without requiring a constant connection to the development computer, maximizing operational flexibility.

The front panel of the NI-1450 boasts various connectivity options. Equipped with a VGA connector, an RS-232 serial port, a 10/100 Ethernet connector, and three IEEE 1394a ports, the NI-1450 allows for effortless and flexible integration into your existing setup. The isolated inputs and outputs of the NI-1450 help mitigate the risk of ground loops, which preserves signal integrity and prevents signal degradation.  The NI-1450 compact vision system allows for direct connection with up to three DCAM-compliant IEEE 1394 cameras by dividing a fixed amount of bandwidth among the three IEEE 1394a ports. For applications demanding higher frame rates and larger image sizes, the NI-1450 ensures a higher data transfer rate to accommodate increased bandwidth needs.

The NI-1450 operates within a main supply voltage range of 24 VDC ±10%, ensuring stability and compatibility with various power sources. Under normal operating conditions, the power consumption, excluding cameras, is typically 12 W, with a maximum power consumption of 22 W. The 1394 bus power is limited to a maximum of 18 W, effectively shared among all three ports. 

Additionally, the NI-1450 features an isolated supply, ranging from 5 to 30 VDC, offering enhanced protection and flexibility in diverse operating environments. The system features efficient data processing and storage with 128 MB of SDRAM as well as 32 MB of nonvolatile storage. The robust network interface of the NI-1450 supports both 10BaseT and 100BaseTX Ethernet, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of network configurations.  It supports communication rates of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and auto-negotiated- accommodating various network speeds.
