National Instruments GPIB-ENET/100 Ethernet GPIB Controller

The GPIB-ENET/100 (Part Numbers: 778209-01, 778209-02, 778209-03, 778209-04, 778209-05, 778209-06) is an Ethernet GPIB Controller with various power input options. The NI GPIB-ENET/100 has multiple useful features, including the fact that it can be accessed anywhere in the world by using Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) for remote testing equipment. This Ethernet GPIB Controller uses 10 Base-T or can be used with 100Base-TX network for accessing remote test equipment.  The NI GPIB-ENET/100 can deliver comparable performance to plug-in-boards if it is used with new architecture in which HS488 or 100Base-TX Ethernet is incorporated.

With the use of the 10Base-T or 100Base-TX base delivering 10 Mbits/s and 100 Mbits/s rates, the GPIB-ENET/100 has an automatic detection feature.  The configuration of this Ethernet GPIB Controller is simple because it can be configured without jumpers or dip switches if it is used with SEU (Simple Ethernet Utility) or DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The installation of the NI GPIB-ENET/100 is flexible since it can be mounted on a DIN-Rail, a rack, or used as a standalone controller. Many products of National Instruments, such as several of the ENET series controllers and the GPIB-ENET/100, can be stacked with an existing GPIB-ENET/100. The device is equipped with RJ-45 Ethernet I/O connectors and IEEE 488 standard 24-pin GPIB I/O connectors. It has a software transfer rate of up to 800 kbytes per second.

The different operating systems that can be used to operate the GPIB-ENET/100 include Linus, Solaris, or Windows 2000. Several compatible software types for this Ethernet GPIB Controller are Measurement Studio and LabVIEW. The compatible driver software is NI-488.2. No physical EEPROM is required to maintain the controller because the firmware code of the NI GPIB-ENET/100 is contained in the flash EEPROM. The device has an input power requirement of 9 to 30 VDC.

The NI device weighs 0.9 lb, and measures 8.25 x 4.89 x 1.44 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommending operating temperature range of 0 to 60 °C, a storage temperature range of –40 to 100 °C, and an operating and storage humidity range of 10% to 90% and 5% to 90% (all in non-condensing conditions) respectively.
